Field of Application

It is used to fill 6 – 20 mm joint gaps of ceramic, marble, natural stone, glass mosaic coating materials indoors and outdoors, on floors and walls. It is suitable for use in wet areas such as pools, water tanks, bathrooms

Pre-application Surface Preparation

Care should be taken to ensure that the tile gaps are dry, intact and clean. Dust, dirt, oil, cement residues that prevent adhesion between the joint gaps to be applied should be removed from the surface. Joint gaps must be free to at least 2/3 of the tile thickness. When laying tiles, adhesives that overflow into the joint gaps should be removed while the grout is still fresh. Tiles with very high absorbency should be soaked with clean water in cases such as high temperature or windy weather conditions. The adhesive must be cured before grouting application.

Application Method

Into approximately 4.00 – 4.80 liters of clean water, 20 kg of YAPBOND© ULTRA JOINT should be added gradually. It should be mixed, preferably with a low-speed mixer or trowel, until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Any substance that is not specified in the application instructions should not be added to the mixture. Putting more or less water than specified can cause cracking, dusting and discoloration

The prepared mortar should be rested for 5 – 10 minutes to ripen. It should be mixed again for 1 – 2 minutes before starting the application. The mortar should be spread on the surface and filled with a rubber trowel with diagonal movements between the tiles and the excess should be scraped off and removed from the surface. When the material filled in the joint cavity loses its water and becomes dull, usually after 10-20 minutes, the surface should be cleaned with circular movements with the help of a damp sponge

This period may be shortened in applications made in unsuitable environmental conditions such as direct sun and wind, among coating materials that have been in the sun or have high absorbency. When the wiping process is done prematurely or with a very watery sponge, the problem of fluctuation in color may be encountered. The sponge should be cleaned at frequent intervals. After making sure that the applied joint filler is dry enough not to drain from the joint, the residues remaining on the surface should be cleaned with a dry cloth. After preparation, the mixture should be used within 1 hour.

Post-application Care and Suggestions

YapBond© series surface protectors should be used before application so that stain-sensitive, porous and absorbent coating materials such as cotto, clinker, glossy granite, ceramic are not affected by tile grout residues. If there are mortar residues on the surface caused by improper cleaning, cleaning can be done with YapBond© series cement remover by following the application instructions 10 days after the application. Expired or crusted mortar in the container should be discarded. After application, hands and application tools should be washed with plenty of water while the tile grout is still fresh. When applied in very hot, dry, and windy conditions, it is recommended to sprinkle it with water a few hours after application to improve the final performance. The consumption amounts stated are for general information purposes only. It may vary depending on application conditions and surface properties. Since it is cement-based, do not breathe the dust, do not contact the skin and eyes.
