Areas of Use

Used as a coating on concrete and cement-based surfaces for areas subject to medium to heavy industrial loads, warehouses, production areas, laboratories, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, shopping malls and supermarkets, aircraft hangars, exhibition and fairgrounds, parking lots, factory and warehouse floors, parking areas, garages and roads, balconies and terraces, loading ramps, worn and torn industrial floors.

Surface Preparation Before Application

YAPFLOOR® ESL is a part of the epoxy coating system. Ensure that the compressive strength of the concrete floors to be lreated is 25 N/mm² and the minimum value for the pull-off test is 1.5 N/mm². Ensure that the concrete for application is at least 28 days old, and that the moisture content of the concrete surface is 4-6%. All loose particles, oil and paint residues should be free of cement slurry. Repair any faulty surfaces in the concrete in advance. The residues, irregularities and glossy screed on the concrete surface should be cleaned with tools such as sandblasting machine, wiping machine with diamond drum, etc., and the surface should be roughened and wiped. Use an industrial vacuum cleaner to ensure that the entire surface is free of any dust. Concrete surfaces in contact with the soil to be coated should be insulated against water and water vapor in advance.

Application

Mixture: YAPFLOOR® ESL is supplied in ready-to-use sets depending on the mixture ratio. Make sure that the material temperature is between (+15) and (+25)°C before starting mixing. 20 kg component A of YAPFLOOR® ESL contains pigment. Mix it thoroughly for 3-4 minutes with a 300-400 rpm mechanical mixer equipped with epoxy/polyurethane resin mixing nozzle, without letting air into the mixture. Then, pour the entire 4 kg of component B into component A and make sure that there is no material left in the container for component B. Components A and B should be used after they have been mixed until they become homogeneous (at least 3 minutes).

Application: Apply YAPFLOOR® ESL on the surface primed
with YAPFLOOR® EPOXY PRIMER or YAPFLOOR® EPOXYFP 103 using a notched trowel to obtain the desired thickness based on the consumption figure in the system. For the last coat, complete the application by combing the surface of the material with a (spiked) roller in order to remove the air from
the material.

Consumption

The consumption values for YAPFLOOR® ESL listed below are theoretical and may vary depending on the quality of the concrete floor on which it is applied: ıntended Use
Primer Filler Sand ıntended Use
YAPFLOOR® EPOXY PRIMER or
YAPFLOOR® EPOXY FP 103 0.40 – 0.60
Filler Sand Sand No.: 3 0.40 – 0.60
Scatter Sand Sand No:2 1.00 – 2.00
Pore Sealer YAPFLOOR® ESL 0.60 – 0.80
Coating YAPFLOOR® ESL 0.60 – 0.80

Maintenance and Recommendations After Application

For the application of YAPFLOOR® EPOXY ESL, ensure that the relative humidity of the air is max. 80%, while the ambient and surface temperature is between +8°C and +35°C. Also, do not apply in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather, too. Surface temperature should be 3°C above the current dew temperature. For applications to be carried out at suitable temperatures, bring the materials to be used to the application area 1-2 days in advance, ensuring that they are stored and adapted to the ambient conditions. For applications to be carried out in extremely cold weather, increase the ambient and floor temperature by means of heaters, and condition the packaging at +20oC to +25oC to improve the processability of the material and make it ready for use. Epoxy and polyurethane based floor systems should be applied by specialized installers. Working and reaction times of resin based systems are affected by ambient and floor temperatures and relative moisture in the air. At low temperatures, the chemical reaction slows down, thus prolonging the using period, the coating period and the working period. At the same time, consumption is increased as viscosity increases. High temperatures speed up chemical reaction; so the above-mentioned times get shorter accordingly. After the completion of the coating, ensure that the ambient temperature does not fall below +8°C for at least 36-48 hours, and that there is no direct contact with water or snow on the recently applied product. In case of water contact, this will lead to carbonation and softening of the coating, which will cause the coating to lose its properties.

Packaging

24.0 kg Set (Component A: 19.20 kg Metal Bucket, Component B: 4.80 kg Metal Bucket)

Storage and Shelf Life

Store in its sealed original package in a cool and dry place, protecting from frost, at temperatures between +10oC and +25oC degrees. For short-term storage, stack maximum 3 pallets on top of each other and ship them via FIFO system. Do not stack pallets on top of each other for long term storage. Shelf life is 12 months from production date if stored at suitable storage conditions.

Information on Safety Precautions

Wear work clothes, protective gloves, goggles and masks in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Rules during the application. Due to the irritating effects of uncured materials, ensure that the components is not allowed to come into contact with the skin and eyes; and in case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water, and in case of ingestion, consult a physician immediately. Do not bring food and beverage into the application areas. Store out of the reach of children. See Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for further information. Also, the application of the product should be carried out by persons with adequate technical knowledge, equipment and experience. The user is solely responsible for this.
