Yapseal Bitüment 2C

Used as an insulation material against ground moisture, leaking water, seawater, temporary and permanent water pressure in foundations, curtain walls, wet areas, balconies and terraces of all buildings, on underground parking lots and garden terraces.

Ensure that the surface is clean, smooth, strong and is not exposed to frost, free from adhesion inhibiting residues such as mold oil, cement residues and loose parts. Chamfer inner corners with structural repair mortars of YAPBUILT© range, and in cases where quick application or resistance against sulphate is required, with YAPBUILT© RM S70, while outer corners should be rounded by trimming with mechanical methods. Level the surface cavities deeper than 5 mm with structural repair mortars of YAPBUILT© range. Prime the surfaces with YAPSEAL© BITUMENT PRIMER. The prepared primer should be evenly spread and applied with a suitable brush, without allowing material to accumulate on horizontal surfaces. On very porous, rough or perforated surfaces, apply a scratch coat with YAPSEAL© BITUMENT 2C in order to prevent the formation of air bubbles and/or to level the surface.

Add 8 kg of component B to 22 kg of liquid YAPSEAL© BITUMENT 2C A component and mix with a low speed mixer until a homogeneous consistency without lumps is achieved. Apply YAPSEAL© BITUMENT 2C in at least 2 coats over the entire surface with a brush. Identify the total application thickness depending on the application area and the water pressure to which the insulation coat will be exposed (please refer to the table of consumption). Proceed to the application of the second coat only when the application is dry enough not to damage the first coat.

For areas that are exposed to temporary and permanent water pressure, place an alkali resistant glass fiber reinforcement mesh with a maximum weight of 110 g/m2 on the entire surface after the first coat of YAPSEAL© BITUMENT 2C and apply the second coat of YAPSEAL© BITUMENT 2C to completely cover the mesh in order to ensure an application thickness of 4 mm.

Ambient temperature should be between +5℃ and +30℃. Avoid application in very humid and/or very hot weather. Do not apply on surfaces that are frozen, melting or in danger of frost within 24 hours.

Do not seal the dilatation joints on the application surfaces with YAPSEAL © BITUMENT 2C, and provide the integrity of insulation at these points with dilatation insulation tapes. Do not apply when it is raining or when there is a possibility of precipitation. As curing will be slower in cold weathers, make sure that the first coat is completely dry before applyin the second coat. Within not more than 3 days, cover the surfaces on which YAPSEAL © BITUMENT 2C has been applied, protecting against external conditions. Do not fill soil on YAPSEAL © BITUMENT 2C applied foundation curtain walls without applying protection.

Store in a clean, dry environment, free from moisture, between +50C and +350C, away from direct sunlight. Protect against water, frost and severe weather conditions. Store in stacks of maximum 3 layers. Storage life is maximum 12
months from the date of production, provided that the storage conditions specified are complied with.

Follow the Occupational Health and Safety instructions for all the work carried out. It is mandatory to use all occupational safety equipment such as work
clothes, protective gloves/goggles/masks etc. specified in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety instructions during the application. Store and protect away from children. See Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for further information. Also, the application of the product should be carried out by persons with adequate technical knowledge, equipment and experience. The user is solely responsible for this.
